Tasks

  • You work on the evaluation of the flammability of battery vent gases during thermal runaway of lithium-ion batteries and contribute to the safety of battery systems
  • You further develop an existing tool for calculating the ignition delay time and laminar burning velocity in Python/Cantera
  • You evaluate the flammability of different exhaust gas compositions from measurements and literature
  • You carry out sensitivity analyses and derive recommendations for exhaust gas measurement
  • You document your progress and present it regularly in order to successively optimise your methodology

Qualification

  • You are studying mechanical engineering, computational engineering science, chemistry (engineering), energy technology or similar
  • You are interested in numerical simulation methods
  • You have basic knowledge in chemical energy conversion and recognise the terms ignition delay time, laminar burning velocity and reaction mechanism
  • You have programming experience in Python
  • You are motivated to familiarise yourself with a complex topic and work independently, conscientiously and in a structured manner
