What we do - and why!

Mobility connects people. People shape mobility. With 6,100 employees around the globe, we develop revolutionary and efficient drive systems, we cross-link vehicles with each other and their surroundings, and we strive to make our lives safer using intelligent systems. We need the right people at the right place to do so. People who turn visions into reality – who think outside the box and promote innovation. People who are ready to push the envelope. Are you ready?

Tasks

Our in-house, MATLAB-based software solution BATT.code already supports rapid design and evaluation of automotive batteries. Now we want to take the next step and extend the tool so that stationary storage systems—from home batteries to 40-foot containers—can be designed and analyzed with just a few clicks. Thats where you come in!

  • You research the specific features that distinguish stationary storage systems from vehicle batteries (arrangement of packs, installation in racks or containers, power electronics, standards, safety)
  • You compare the existing tool with missing functions
  • You assist with the introduction of a new system level, “BESS,” including classes such as inverters, container cooling, and pack-to-pack busbars
  • You expand the calculations to include typical stationary key figures (continuous power, energy density, cooling requirements)
  • You integrate new modules into the existing software architecture, including plausibility checks and default values according to relevant standards
  • You test extensions on sample projects and compare them with current storage solutions

Qualification

  • You are a registered student (m/f/d) in a master's degree program in science or engineering
  • You are interested in battery technologies and energy storage systems
  • Basics in object-oriented programming – MATLAB skills are advantageous
  • You have good written and spoken German and English skills as well as good MS Office skills
  • You are characterized by analytical thinking and enjoy developing software solutions
  • You are motivated and have an independent way of working
