Additionally, our range of services includes sophisticated systems engineering, cyber physical system development, software- and E/E-integration for software defined vehicles with highly automated and safe driving functionalities as well as vehicle integration. FEV’s engineering capabilities span the entire mobility ecosystem including all on-road applications as well as rail, marine, aerospace, agriculture, construction, mining, and industrial applications. Automotive construction requires sophisticated vehicle, powertrain, and module concepts, and FEV is at the forefront of this development. The research and advanced development departments of automotive manufacturers, as well as their suppliers, are increasingly expected to deliver preliminary services that can be used in series production within reasonably short periods of time. Current megatrends, such as CO2 reduction through e-mobility, autonomous driving, or connectivity – must be made ready for series production.
- Importance of supplier sourcing and purchasing:
The strategy of sourcing and purchasing plays an important role for a successful supplier integration. It directly starts in the early project phase, normally during the feasibility phase.
For vehicle development projects an early and rough bill of materials (BOM) is the starting point. Modules, systems and sub-systems will have dedicated potential suppliers and need to be tracked individually. The BOM is constantly growing and is refined down to component level throughout the concept and development phase. All relevant system and component information and processes with regard to supplier- and purchasing-related information need to entered and tracked.
- Data management for sourcing and purchasing:
It is obvious that only powerful data management system is the only solution, which allows data tracking, process depiction, document management and versioning, status check, assigning of characteristics and individual schedules.
FEV has chosen in-STEP BLUE as a tool, which the predestined software solution for customizing the needs and organization, the workflows, processes and methods.
- Performance and target of the master thesis:
FEV is expecting a customized start configuration in in-STEP for supplier sourcing and purchasing items, which easily can be adjusted to the individual project needs when a new project is set-up.
The execution shall be divided into the following phases:
1. Determination and analysis of requirements, needs and correlations
2. Getting familiar with in-STEP
3. Definition of views, status and results as output from in-STEP data
4. Customizing of a start configuration in in-STEP
5. Set-up of a reduced BOM and feed with virtual data; test with loop implementations
6. Set-up of a user-manual and training (workshop) for users
- Support and boundary conditions:
In-STEP is currently applied to handle a BOM for engineering items and requirement management. FEV offers a basic training (in-house) for in-STEP. Furthermore, colleagues with thorough knowledge are available in order to be initially guided for program customizing.
- You are studying industrial or mechanical engineering
- You are self-motivated, passionate and able to acclimite into a fast-paced dynamic environment
- You like to communicate with people on different levels and you have great people skills
- We expect a good knowledge of MS office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams) as well as a strong willingness to learn new programms
- Your language skills in German and English correspond Level C1
